Elephant Looks Like It’s Gilded You Have Never Seen

In a crowd of gray elephants standing between the browns and greens of a marshy field, you can imagine how difficult it was to stand out. nBut one elephant seemed to be shining brightly against the rest, taking on a golden hue as it strode through the forest.

Research professor Christopher Whittier captured the unusual scene while taking a break from veterinary work in the Central African Republic to visit the famous Dzanga Bai forest. bThe golden elephant is one of about 150 endangered African forest elephants that have visited the clearing. Mr. Whittier 48-year-old said the elephants had a ‘wonderful mud bath’ in a particularly yellow patch of soil.

He said: ‘It had rained pretty heavily before I took most of these pictures, so a lot of mud washed away many of the elephants.

‘What was remarkable about this elephant is the way it covers itself so thoroughly – not missing an inch by the time it’s done. It seemed other elephants didn’t really react specifically to its color, which was part of what made it funnier to me. It was like he’s really proud of himself but no one else seemed to care. Like wearing a new skin color”

Mr. Whittier said he was able to observe the herd of elephants, each weighing about 3 tons and growing up to 8 feet, for three hours from an observatory 50 meters from the mud bath. He said: ‘It was really fun and exciting to watch this elephant and the others really enjoy covering themselves in the mud. Then he seemed very proud to walk past as he was fully covered in golden mud.’

The African forest elephant is under constant threat from p.oac.hers, and in 2013 scientists estimated it could be extinct within 10 years. Mr. Whittier said the experience of seeing elephants in such large numbers was ‘very special’ as they rarely gather in groups of more than four or five.

They forage on leaves, grasses, seeds, fruit, and tree bark. Since the diet of forest elephants is dominated by fruit, they play a crucial role in dispersing many tree species, particularly the seeds of large trees which tend to have high carbon content. They are therefore referred to as the ‘mega-gardener of the forest’. To supplement their diet with minerals, they gather at mineral-rich waterholes and mineral licks found throughout the forest.

He added: ‘People say Dzanga Bai could be one of the most unique wildlife viewing experiences in the world, and often it’s second only to Serengeti National Park – but I’m not sure it’s second.’

The Man Saved And Carried A 100kg Elephant On His Shoulders Through Forest

The story behind the man who carried an elephant, Palanichamy Sarathkumar, is currently working as a forest guard and is stationed near Mettupalayam. Mettupalayam is a small forested city 32 miles (50 km) from the beautiful hill station Ooty. Despite the creature’s cute appearance, it was heavier than guard Palanichamy Sarathkumar, weighing in at more than 100kg.

On December 12, 2017, and Palanichamy, the man carrying an elephant, was returning home from a night shift at his headquarters when he received a call about a small in.cident near the Vanabhadra Kaliamman temple. The caller informed him that a female elephant went rogue and was blocking the road close to the Vanabhadra Kaliamman temple. He went there as soon as he could with his colleagues.

They set off a few fire.crac.kers to guide the elephant back into the forest. After the females left, they continue to look for other elephants nearby.

They saw a baby elephant stuck inside a small ditch. The little elephant was confused and tired when the ditch made him feel suf.focated. Palanichamy and his colleagues pulled a rock out of a ditch because it was blocking the elephant’s exit.

Mr. Sarathkumar realized that the female elephant near the road was its mother and was very up.set when she was nowhere to be found. The calf was too weak to walk, so the task became doubly difficult for the forest guard. After removing the rock, Palanichamy and his 3 friends carried the baby out. They wanted to carry it to the other side so that the mother could find her child.

They had to think about it for a while when they realized that the mother elephant is very protective and can at.tack if it was th.rea.tened. It was then, that Palanichamy decided to become the person carrying an elephant on his back, by himself. He chose to ris.k his own life instead of ris.king four. Despite the creature’s cute appearance, it was heavier than guard Palanichamy Sarathkumar, weighing in at more than 100kg.

He placed the baby near a waterhole and hoped that the mother would return and locate her child.
They waited for hours but the mother did not come. They all went back after a while and hoped that the mother will come back.
They all returned, the next morning, and found the calf missing. The calf left its mark next to the larger pugmarks of a bigger elephant. Palanichamy believes they left before dawn after being reunited.

Groups of elephants, or herds, follow a matriarchal structure with the eldest female in charge. Herds are composed of primarily female family members and young calves, according to the San Diego Zoo, and include 6 to 20 members depending on the food supply. When the family gets too large, herds often split into smaller groups that stay within the same area.

The matriarch relies on her experience and memory to recall where the best spots for food, water are, and where to find protection from the elements. The matriarch is also responsible for teaching the younger members of her family how to socialize with other elephants.

This dog was rescued after being discovered all by himself in the middle of the sea.

Somehow, this dog was swimming by himself in the middle of the vast ocean.

While kayaking off the Florida coast, Bryn Crowell and his pals spotted a strange object in the water, when they got sh.o.c.k.ed because it was not an object rather a living doggie.

When they came closer, they were sh.o.c.ked and surprised and leaped back when they realized it was a dog. They had decided to slow down and turn around to see what the object was, Their initial thought was that it was a hat. The small puppy had obviously been struggling all by himself in the middle of the ocean for a very long period of time, and no one knew how he managed to get so far from the beach.

The puppy, whose eyes were full of hope, was s.c.a.r.ed but also surprised, and he’s very lucky to have been found by the sailors. With no hestiation, one man jumped down to bring the canine onto the board.

Thankfully, This dog was has gotten back to his family!!!

The dog was found to be worn a collar with a dog tag and family information. So they decided to contact to celebrate his rescue. And the family picked the phone call!!

On the day of his family’s boat vacation, Zuko the dog was informed that he had vanished because he was too thrilled and jumped every time the waves struck the boat, which accidently f.e.l.l into the sea. However, his family was unaware of this and believed he was playing hide-and-seek on the boat.

They made the decision to go back and start searching for Zuko after realizing he was missing. Their family received a revived call from Bryn and his buddies in their hour of need. Once again, I’d like to express my gratitude to Bryan and his group of pals. And what a fortunate dog Zuko is!

I highly appreciate you saving the dog. He must be over the moon after being reunited with his family. May God bless him!

The bond between human and animal is closer than what we thought.

Cute Kitty With Twisted Legs Has A Forever Family Now

At the very beginning of 2020, a pretty grey kitten with white paws was rescued together with the rest of her litter. The good samaritans, however, realized she had twisted legs. Trying to get the kitty the best care she could receive, they took her to Mojo’s Hope, a rescue organization for animals with special needs based in Anchorage, Alaska.

Shannon Basner, the founder of Mojo’s Hope (and Alaska’s KAAATs), took the kitten, named Lady Purrl, to the vet for evaluation. It turned out that the twisted legs weren’t her only problem.

“The vet team did not have high hopes for her and were very concerned about her quality of life,” Basner told Bored Panda. “They were not really familiar with who we were and how powerful our mission is. Once I spoke with the vet and explained the work we do with each of these unique animals, she proceeded with her exam.”

Purrl was only 1.7 pounds (0.8 kilograms) and was having severe diarrhea. Later, the X-rays indicated she had such a severe fracture in her spine, the vet was unable to tell if it was an accident or congenital. “When we got her into our regular vet, she spoke with a specialist and it was confirmed her condition was congenital.

Her spine was very fragile and there were concerns if jolted it could cause paralysis or even death,” Basner said. “We were very careful with her and I have these special plexiglass kitty condos for our sweet rescues/residents who need a safe place when they cannot be supervised.”

But as Lady Purrl grew stronger, she showed everyone how amazingly resilient she was. Now, she climbs, runs, wrestles, and truly shines. “Lady Purrl is one of the sweetest and most spunky of kitties,” Basner said. “She has grown into a very affectionate and loving sweetheart who loves lap time!”

“She gets along with everyone in the home and especially with her best buddies Cinder the husky and HarPURR (our paralyzed kitty). She loves to play, snuggle, and is a licker.”

Purrl bonded very strongly with Cinder right from the moment they met. “Cinder is my own dog who has been an amazing mentor to numerous rescues over the years. She is the most fantastic, nurturing sweetheart who absolutely adores her cats! Cinder helped HarPURR when we rescued him and she immediately fell in love with Lady Purrl.”

“Lady Purrl began nursing on Cinder from day 1 and continues to nurse on her to this day. Cinder is her surrogate mom. Purrl and Cinder play together and also groom one another, it is about as precious as it can get! Purrl plays with all of the other cats and loves to wrestle with HarPURR. They are all so precious together. She has the most loving and tender personality.”

Lady Purrl’s legs are not something that can be repaired. But they don’t stop her from growing and living a happy life, too. Nor did her other health issues.

“Once we got her on a special diet (high in fiber) and a special place to relieve herself (she does not use the litter, she uses pee pads), her diarrhea went away and she started blossoming. She grew stronger and stronger,” Basner said. “We got her spayed in May and she recovered beautifully!”

Basner said Lady Purrl’s twisted legs do not stop her from moving around either. “She is like lightning when it is nom-nom time or getting to where she wants to go. She loves to climb and explore (while being carefully supervised).”

Basner runs the rescue from her home and has to consider the needs of all the residents and rescues to ensure that those needs are being met. She said Purrl’s special bond with Cinder and HarPURR made it abundantly clear that this is the home she wanted so it’s the place she is staying in.

“I also had to consider what may happen as she continues to age and keeping her with us will help us to monitor her closely. We cannot predict that she will stay in good health, but with routine vet visits, quality care, and all the love, we hope she will be with us for a very long time,” Basner explained.

The woman truly admires the camaraderie in her home. “The beautiful friendships and bonds that develop here between species and across is something extraordinary. I feel so fortunate every day to be surrounded by such love, positivity, and sass. Their daily interactions are uniquely special and they sure do know how to keep me on my toes!”

November 13th was a wonderful milestone for the entire family as Purrl had her 1st birthday! “For a kitten that some didn’t think had a good quality life, she sure showed how resilient, strong, and wonderful she is. We always assess very carefully and when we see that glimmer of spunk, sass, insPURRation, and determination, we will do whatever we can to give each one the best life possible.”

“Each one teaches us so much about what we can do and how to never give up! Purrl overcame so much at the beginning of her little life and she showed everyone that she is a true warrior kitty,” Basner said.
